About the event
Join textile artist Clare Sams for an inspiring, hands-on workshop that celebrates creativity, sustainability, and making with natural materials. In this relaxed and welcoming session, you will learn how to create your own simple weaving frame using traditional materials such as willow and twine. Clare will guide you step by step through the process, making it accessible for beginners while offering plenty of scope for more experienced makers to experiment and develop their ideas. All materials are included.
Once your frame is complete, you’ll explore a rich selection of natural yarns and found materials to create a unique woven artwork. Working with jute string, cotton threads, twigs, beads, and other tactile elements, you’ll be encouraged to play with texture, pattern, and colour, responding intuitively to the materials in your hands. The workshop emphasises mindful making and creative exploration, with a focus on sustainability and the beauty of natural fibres.
