We're delighted to welcome Marchelle Farrell to Manningtree Arts, in conversation about her prize-winning memoir Uprooting.

After leaving Trinidad for a career in psychiatry, Marchelle found herself uprooted again — this time to a quiet English village, where she was the only Black woman in the community. As she brought her new garden back to life through the seasons, she began to untangle the deeper question of home: what it means, who gets to claim it, and how colonial history still shapes our relationship to land and belonging.

Winner of the Nan Shepherd Prize, Uprooting has been praised for its lyrical, deeply felt writing on nature, identity and migration.
