Sea shanties by candlelight

An evening of festive and traditional sea shanties.

ShantyFolk are South Suffolk’s very own shanty crew. Five friends who met in 2014 when singing with a community choir based in Lavenham, ShantyFolk have developed a distinctive sound using close harmony in many shanties, songs of the sea and folk songs. They have performed at a number of shanty festivals in East Anglia and The Netherlands. Among their engagements in 2024, they have performed at The Sudbury Arts Centre, The John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, Stowmarket and had the privilege to be the opening act at The Bures Music Festival. Over the years, they have performed at a wide variety of private and public engagements, raising thousands of pounds for good causes in the process.
